How the project generates carbon credits
By reforesting degraded land, we are effectively sequestering carbon from the atmosphere, a process that results in the generation of carbon credits. In fact, since the project's inception, we have been able to produce a substantial amount of carbon credits, contributing significantly to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Where the carbon goes
Bamboo and short-rotation species
We sequester carbon through the cultivation of bamboo and other short-rotation tree species on degraded land: about 385 hectares under development now, and a goal of 20,000 hectares of multi-species plantations across Ghana.
Plantations managed for the climate
Our plantations are managed under a strict climate change framework, benefiting from carbon sequestration and land restoration. The project plays a crucial role in our commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Biochar, next
Our upcoming biochar facility will convert crop residues and wood chips into biochar that improves soil fertility and sequesters carbon for centuries.
